I am an aerospace engineer with a PhD from Instituto Superior Técnico on the subject of sensitivity analysis for multi-stage turbomachinery applications using adjoint methods and automatic differentiation. My research interests include aeroacoustic optimization of wind turbines, multidisciplinary design optimization, aircraft design, computational and experimental aerodynamics.

My other interests include scuba diving, hiking, beer brewing, board games and fantasy literature.

  • Design/machine/assemble various structural parts
  • Design and perform experiments to study its inertial characteristics

FLEXCRAFT – Flexible Aircraft – is an aircraft that combines the idea of modularity – allowing a reconfiguration of the cabin for different missions (commercial and recreational, emergency and assistance, among others) with STOL capability – to compete with rotary wing solutions, through short runway operation, improving overall performance.

Adjoint-based Sensitivity Analysis for Multistage Turbomachinery

This was my PhD project, where I worked on implementing multistage analysis capability to an adjoint solver of a proprietary CFD code tubomachinery applications. The The work resulted in the thesis entitled “Aero-thermal analysis and design of turbomachinery blades using multi-stage adjoint methods”.

Aeroacoustic Optimization of Wind Turbine Blades

This was my master thesis project. It consisted in developing a tool for aeroacoustic optimization of wind turbine blades. The tool was divided into three parts: geometry parameterization, aerodynamic analysis and acoustic analysis.
